Car Window Tints Law inMississauga, Ontario

Is it legal to tint cars in Mississauga, Ontario? This is a question most car owners have. However, the answer seems to dwell on the flip side, as car window tinting isn’t entirely legal here. Thus, car owners need to follow certain rules if they want to get their car windows tinted.

Following are some of the laws that you should know and follow:

Ontario’s Window Tint Laws underwent a significant change in 2017. Since January 1st of that year, aftermarket cars are no longer permitted to have tinted windshields, as outlined in section 73(3) of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

The VLT rate or Visible Light Transmission rate of the vehicle’s front and side windows should be 70% or higher. This means that the darkness of the tint cannot be more than 30%.

According to Ontario Window Tint regulations, any tint is permitted for the windows at the back of vehicles.

For the rear screen, any tint is allowed as long as the vehicle has rear view mirrors on each of its sides.
